​Home First Aid Kit​​ Items​​

​Your home first-aid kit may contain:

  • Disposable gloves
  • Sterile dressings to stop bleeding
  • Cleansing agent or soap and antibiotic towelettes to disinfect
  • Antibiotic ointment to prevent infection
  • Burn ointment to prevent infection
  • Adhesive bandages in a variety of sizes
  • Eye wash solution to flush the eyes or as a general decontaminate
  • A non-mercury thermometer
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Prescription medications you take every day, such as insulin, heart medicine, and asthma inhalers (rotated with newer medications with later expirations dates)
  • Prescribed medical supplies such as glucose and blood pressure monitoring equipment and supplies

​Your home first-aid kit may also include these and other non-prescription drugs:

  • Aspirin or non-aspirin pain reliever
  • Antacid (for upset stomach)
  • Anti-diarrhea medication
  • Laxative
  • Activated charcoal, if advised by the Poison Control Center
